Firebrand

Firebrand was a creature of an unknown species. However, the earliest their origins can be traced back to is on the planet trance. His role was initially that of a peacekeeper for the planet. Punishing criminals, upholding the law, what have you. Problem was, he upheld the law a little too high; for he was equally as ruthless and as unforgiving as the very criminals he had attempted to bring justice to. From his perspective, no matter the reason or circumstances, anyone who committed a crime must be put to death. Many had criticized his harshness despite its effectivity, and while they at least took solace in him only seeking out criminals, this wouldn't last for long. It all came to a boiling point when he had began to lay waste to a neighboring village. He claimed that most instances of injustice were coming from there, so what better way to keep peace if there's nothing left to disturb it? Unlike the other times, however, he had crossed a line, leading to the factions of Trance doing battle with the corrupt lawkeeper. It took a long time, but he was eventually knocked unconcious, and chained up in the caves of Trance.

It wasn't long until he would be freed. While chained up in his prison, Red had come across Firebrand; offering freedom in exchange for being his general. Red had stated that Fireband would need to surrender all his allegiance to him, but he was more than willing to do so if it meant freedom. So, freed he was, laying waste to Trance once more and moving to Zenith as his new home. While there, he would not only serve as one of many tormenters for the souls trapped there, but served as Red's personal bodyguard as well.

During the incident with Melissa, Solomon had went up to Fireband, asking him to turn against red and become independent; However, Firebrand would deny this offer. It is here where an important distinction needs to be made about him. For all of his insistence on justice and upholding the law, it was never about that. Firebrand's intentions were always to simply torture and kill people; his previous position only serving as an excuse for him to act as such. Now, he had a position where he wouldn't need excuses to be horrible, because the point exactly was to be horrible. Not to mention, he was far more biased to Red than most people (Because of the whole being freed from a cave thing), telling Solomon that red's "not that bad" and attempting to downplay Solomon's complaints.

Solomon would carry on without firebrand, and much like the rest of Zenith, Firebrand would be slain during that fateful playthrough. Although he was saddened that his life came to an end (at the hands of solomon, no less), he had felt an odd satisfaction at the end of all of this. Firebrand had found a position to do exactly what he liked doing the most, and had spent both the latter half and the end of his life doing that exact thing. Yes, the fact he had died at all was a bummer to him, but even still, he *was* doing what he loved. Perhaps we can all learn a thing or two from him; even if it's unclear how, we could all work towards the kind of clarity of purpose. Perhaps all our goals are achievable as long as we simply hope for them.

....And Perhaps we should also try to cut out the "murdering people" part of the process, I think that would be better for everyone involved.
