False Light is a spiritual hivemind of unknown origin. How they function is to gather information on fables and prophecies of different civilizations, and then proceed to metamorphosize into something befitting that civilization's ideas of heroes/saviors. If the illusion works, they will use this to their advantage by rising in the ranks of said society; Once that final step is achieved, they will use all the power they've accrued to slaughter everyone and take their souls.
They also have the potential to split into smaller versions of themselves when they find it necessary. An example of this is in trance with these floating trunk-ghost entities otherwise known as "Baku". This purpose can range from recon, creating fodder for their massacre, or using them to clean up evidence afterwards.
They are a very dangerous foe for these reasons, but thankfully they aren't totally infallible. For you see, once under the guise of someone or something, they commit heavily to that facade. While they use everything they've learned to create the most probably interpretation, therein lies the problem; interpretation. Sometimes they can get things wrong, some big, or some small.
Even if they perfectly commit to using what abilities their form contains, this has problems too, as it leads to them not having their full toolkit available at all times. Sometimes they'll drop the act altogether, most commonly activating a self-destruct sequence to damage surroundings and scatter their cells as an escape tool. They've recognized these weaknesses and have made an effort to work around them, but the fact still stands that said weaknesses still exist.
During the events of a playthrough, False light had been roaming around trance, feeling the prescence of a giant monster. However, upon getting further analysis, they discovered something strange about it; the monster itself had no soul to speak of, and yet nearby they felt the prescence of another one. Weak, small, and not worth their time, but most certainly there. Feeling this may be a trap (as well as the aforementioned soul seeming less than worthless), they had retreated in hopes of finding a better target.
As you can tell, their most notable form is that of an agelum; specifically mimicking Acacius. This exact species is the one most determined in hunting them down, but they have had no such luck. Perhaps if False Light had actually done battle with the player, it could've provided the agelums with the advantage they needed, but I suppose we will never know. To this day they remain undetected and doing as they please.
Interestingly, despite their callous and malicious nature, False Light seems to have an affinity for soulless beings. This can lead to it either ignoring, sparing, or even attempt companionship with such creatures. While examples are few and far between, they in particular have a decent relationship with the creature on Pathos known as "Melegia".
